We recommend changing your cup every couple of years but it can be used for up to 10 years if the cleaning, storing and sanitization guidelines are followed.

Discard and replace the cup if it has scratches, tears or start deteriorating.

The smaller cup is perfect for a lighter flow and the large cup for heavier flows.

If you have given birth naturally the large cup may be your best option.

Experienced users can also graduate to a larger cup.

The cup should be inserted lower than you would normally place a tampon.

Once the seal is formed between the outside of the cup and the walls of your vagina it means it has been securely inserted. When inserted properly, it will rest naturally; you won't notice it’s there.

After unboxing we recommend sterilizing your cup with our steam sterilizer for a complete clean or use hot water and the Iona cup cleanser.

During your cycle, wash your hands, remove the cup and rinse first using cold water to help avoid discoloration and odor, then wash using warm water and mild soap (like our Iona Cup Cleanser). Rinse and you are set again for another use.

After your cycle, rinse your Iona Cup first in cold water to help avoid discoloration and odor. Then Sterilize with the Iona Steam Sterilizer. If you haven't purchased our Steam Sterilizer yet place the Iona Cup it in a pot of boiling water for 4–5 minutes (but not more than 7 min). Use tongs or a whisk to make sure the cup doesn’t rest on the bottom of the pot.

Do not use strong cleaners or anything that may irritate your skin if not completely washed off.

Please do not use the following that may degrade the silicone over time, disrupt your natural pH and vaginal flora, or may lead to irritation:

Bleach

Vinegar

Baking soda

Antibacterial soap

Sterilising tablets

Extended soaking in any substance

Our cups hold up to 4X the amount of a regular tampon.

It is best to remove the cup in the shower for the 1st couple times so you can master the removal process. Hold the tip of the cup and pull it downward while keeping the cup in the upright position. Empty the contents and wash the cup with cold water first then apply the cup wash and rinse with warm water.
